What Is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?

Just as there are sedan drivers and SUV drivers, Honda wants to ensure that you can stay connected no matter if you have an Apple or Android device. With Apple CarPlay, you can connect your iPhone to the vehicle and receive updated directions, make phone calls, listen to music, audiobooks, podcasts, and even get text messages without taking your eyes off the road or taking your hand off the steering wheel. You can even ask Siri to tackle tasks for you so you can stay alert on the road. Android Auto works very similar by enabling drivers to utilize Google Assistant to make voice commands for your favorite stations, to get the traffic updates you need, and so much more.

How to Connect Apple CarPlay

If you're looking to connect your iPhone to your Honda vehicle, follow these simple steps to do so:

  1. Start your vehicle to see if Siri is on as she can walk you through the setup process or plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car that may be labeled with a CarPlay or smartphone icon.
  2. Turn on power and go to your display audio home screen.
  3. Agree to the Terms and Conditions by pressing either ENABLE ONCE or ALWAYS ENABLE.
  4. If you have a vehicle that supports wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice-command button on our steering wheel.
  5. Be sure your radio is either in Bluetooth® or wireless mode. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, then tap available cars, and select your vehicle. Refer to your owner's manual for additional information.
